Hughes in the deep! Enduroland Race XC Championship Round 2 – Race Report and Results

by adminMay 8, 2019

Once again the weather Gods looked after the Enduroland event with mid week showers just about holding back the dust after the race starts making the track prime for the youth race and the majority of the adult race for the club’s Putoline and Motoking sponsored Race XC series Round 2 event at Deepdale. The final race event at the venue now until Mud Sweat and Gears next December.

The youth race had a good entry with eight 125cc youth on the grid.

Kyle ‘WP’ Saunders took a great win with a 3 minute lead over 2nd in class Ben Bayfield with Kye Hasler in 3rd, all three with 7 laps of the enlarged big loop. William Belton took 4th. Morgan Plaskett 5th and Harvey Ward in 6th. Freya Jolly and Charlie Bull finished 7th and 8th.

Rider of the day in the youth was undoubtedly Josh Knight with a fantastic 2nd overall and class win in the Big Wheels. Archie Peters took 2nd, Harrison Hill was 3rd and William Turtle in 4th.
Josh was the only Big Wheel to complete 7 laps.

The Small Wheel class had Kit Szabo at the helm also taking the MOTOking holeshot award with Oliver Cook in 2nd, Ryan Stoneley in 3rd. Dayton Thompson, Rhys Hill and Cameron Coulter took 4th, 5th and 6th respectively.

The largest class of Round 2 was the 65cc’s, which had Scott Harris taking the class win. Eddie Belton took 2nd and Alicia Conduct 3rd. Alicia also collected her 2018 Young rider of the year award so a great day for her. Reece Giles got 4th, Chris Meek wad 5th, Riley Hill in 6th, Jake Tansley 7th, Daniel Rosborough 8th, Sidney Monger 9th, Rylan Harrison 10th, Max Monk 11th and Fin Roper 12th.

The large 15 minute plus lap proved a real challenge but most parents preferred the big lap (We never asked the kids lol) A tough day for the young guns who all excelled and revelled in riding a lot of the adult loop. Well done to all and we thank all the kids/youth and their parents for the support.

Straight after the youth race finished the adults lined up for their 2 hour clash and Round 2 of their series.

A fabulous entry after the previously postponed event took to the start grids with more track changes made, opening up harder sections and more going for the big boys, and some sections were added that have never been used at the Deepdale venue previously.

Expert and Overall Adult race winner Ryan Hughes

A strong Expert field saw Ryan Hughes, Aaron Bloomfield and Aston Day all swap the lead after another strong start from Harvey Thomas. Ryan Hughes eventually taking over for the last lap and the win followed some 42 seconds behind by Bloomfield and Day in 3rd. A great ride from Kents Joe Pratt saw him take 4th.

A decent Clubman class had Craig Ulliott take the win matching the Experts laps with 9. Gary Curtis had a great ride taking 2nd and Jadyn Giles once again relishing the class promotion with 3rd place. Nice to see Charlie Goddard back with 4th, with our Enduroland poster boy Finley Thompson finishing a credible 5th.

Mark Kirby had a great race to take the Vets win also on 9 laps with Phil Roper 2nd and Neville Duke hopping to the finish in 3rd.

In the Masters ‘Dangerous’ Darren Carter hit 8 laps for the win with Antony Heatley in 2nd and Mark Stoneley in 3rd.

Young Max Brown took the Sportsman win also with 8 laps and Chris Hempstead took 2nd, Ben Forbes finished in 3rd place. Robert Could claimed the MOTOking holeshot and 5th place.

Ollie Bucksey headed the Novice attack and win with Jack Picton 2nd and Troy Seabrook in 3rd. Przemyslaw Mikinka just missed the podium in 4th and 7 laps.

The mid week rain saved the day on what would have been a very dusty event. Deepdale racing is now finished until December when we run Mud Sweat and Gears so if you enjoyed Round 2 make sure you look at MSG 2019.

We would like to thank all the riders and staff plus the landowner for some great events over the last few months at Deepdale and a special thank you to Kayleigh Calver who jumped into time the adult race with our usual timing legend Donna Saunders.

Well done everyone it was a classic-see you all at Fred’s Farm.
