Good Godden! 2019 International Lincolnshire Poacher Grasstrack – Race Report and Results

Upright Grasstrack is very strong in Britain, and this was a good way of us showcasing that. Tim Curnock won the 2 valve event, and Bob Dolman took the 4 valve. The final produced a brilliant race for second between two more Brits, Mike Dowling and Mark Taylor. In fairness, this sort of Upright action happens every week in the UK!
There was another win for Gareth Winterburn and Liam Brown as they continue their sensational season, taking the victory over Colin Blackbourn and Carl Pugh and Rod and Billy Winterburn.
Dutchman Theo Pijper, who is a Poacher regular, rode well to win the 500cc solo event, though the final was abandoned due to a faulty start gate and dust. The riders felt that it would be fairer to award the event over points, given the tremendous prize fund on offer at the meeting. Edward Kennett continued his good form with second, while Kennett’s Team GB colleague Paul Cooper finished in third.
Mitch Godden followed up his fourth in the 500cc solos with the 500cc Sidecar win with his passenger Paul Smith. Simon Beard and Mark Hopkins rode well for second while Natasha Bartlett and Kim Kempa rounded out the top three.
