by adminFebruary 22, 2019

Sunday the 17th of February was to be the 1st of the 15 round Moto Logic South West Off Road Motocross series in 2019. The track at Little Silver was in good condition and weathered the offseason Devonian winter storms well.

This year’s Junior Elite class was stacked full of potential winners, including some of the rising talents from last years youth group, who were making their adult debut’s. It was Sam Hardwell who took the overall honours on the day from George Olaf who put a stop to Hardwell’s hat trick of wins in the last race going 2-2-1. Third overall went to Dominic Stoneman aboard his Rockstar Energy SMS Husqvarna, but he had the 4th place overall finisher, vet rider Alan Packer hot on his tail all day, who in turn was followed by Mark Osbourne of the Tony Maunders racing team KTM, who finished 5th with just a few points separating the trio.

The Junior Open Championship was also going to be a close battle all day with some new and old faces making a return to the series, but it was the Saltash Ship Recovery Husqvarna of Nic Greeney who took the holeshot honours in all 3 moto’s until disaster struck each time. This left the door open for Ryan Carrington to notch up his first overall victory of the season with a scorecard of 1-1-6.  Neal Woolridge was having a fantastic opening round and took the silver home, just 1 point from the overall win. Tristan Letherby secured a fantastic 3rd overall and even clinched the last race win on his return back to racing. Sam Andrews was to gain the highest overall of his career after some superb effort and consistency in all 3 races for 4th overall. Dan Cook on the TCR DC CARPENTRY KAWASAKI is another rider making his racing return after 3 years away from the sport due to injuries, and he took a fabulous 5th place.

Henry Life in the 9-14 felt at home in the conditions.

Daniel Crocker was the man to watch in the Seniors and took a fantastic hat trick of wins on the day for the overall win. Mat Coleman was to secure 2nd overall with some consistent rides in all three races from Lee Goodland in 3rd. Giles Richards was 4th aboard the Tony Maunders Racing KTM, followed closely by the Sideways Pat Watts Racing Yamaha of Kurt Pugsley in his Senior debut.

Josh Coleman was looking for the victory in the Expert class but was denied this due to bike issues, but that wasn’t the case for young Jamie Dixon, who after a good solid qualifying session really kept a strong head all day and took the win from Pete Bully, Callum Gordon, Jack Stevens and Aaron Austin in 5th.

The new look 9-14 class for 2019 was also treating the crowds at Little Silver to some close racing. Young Devonian Henry Life was the man on the charge all day and took the overall victory and points lead with a Hat trick of wins from Ashton Coleman who went 2-2-2. York Coleman was to claim the 3rd step on the podium from Ben Sullivan and hard charger Fraser Topp in 4th and 5th

JD RACINGS Zoe Deacon giving brother James some advice on how it’s done before tea break

The Support class is a mixed of ability riders and day entries for non championship members, so anyone could win the group but it was Ollie Harmon who set the bar, with Ryan Lock 2nd, and the returning Jack Cunningham 3rd.  Gibbs Racing’s Morgan Limpus finished in 4th and Anthony Rashbrook had a great 5th overall
