British Sand Warriors head to France. 2019 Le Touquet Beach Race – Preview
The event begins today with a Vintage Enduro, with just one British rider Paul Kirby representing the Union Jack in a 400 strong plus entry.
On Saturday the first race is the Juniors with Jack Winthrop being our only entrant out of 154 riders who will be taking on the hour and a half race.
Where our racers really pile in, is at Saturdays Quad race, with a big surge of UK racers heading to what is one of the biggest Quad races in the World. Our feature racer Harry Walker will be among the top British hopes having finished 12th last year. After winning both the Weston and Skegness beach races and fresh from training in America, Walker will be looking to break into the top 10.
Harry Miller was 16th last year, and he is another capable to pitching in with a top ten ride. Other Brit’s include Sheldon Seal, Carl Bunce, Oliver Sansom, Ben and Jamie Morgan, Laurence Stopps, David Vass, Katie Hodgson, recent Ecosse XC winner Lorne Sinclair, Ben Russell, Derek Burns, Simon David, Graham Guy, Stuart Marley. Plus young guns James Bevan, Tom Roch, Dayfdd Davies and Thomas Chell.
For Sunday’s main three hour Enduropal race, our main hope has to be Red Bull KTM racer Nathan Watson, who was last years runner up. His form in the sand in the last 12 months has been impeccable. Triple Weston Beach race winner Todd Kellett will also be one to watch and the three hour sand blast races are his thing as we know. Other Brits in the 1300 strong entry are John Robson, Matt Moffat, Jack Lee, James Holt, Brad Thornhill, Ben Hunt, Charlie Sutton, Steven Smyth, and Richard Mckeown
