ARENACROSS TO REINSTATE YOUTH 65 CLASS

by adminNovember 15, 2018

Arenacross promoter ASL has announced that it will not run its proposed Kuberg AX E-Cup series for 2019, and will instead revitalise its 65cc youth class for one more year.

This unexpected turn of events is largely due to lack of rider interest in an all-electric form of motocross at the current time. The deficiency in the availability of race-prepped machines, suitable to perform at the level demanded by Arenacross audiences, was also a factor.

This will be welcome news for a host of seven-to-10-year-old youngsters who were looking forward to pitting their petrol-powered machines and skills against each other in the Arenacross racing ring. Interested parties are invited to register their interest online via the Arenacross website. A panel of judges will then select the lucky 12 who will make history by contesting the final 65cc AX youth championship.

Commenting on the decision ASL’s Matt Bates said; “I don’t mind putting my hands up when I’m wrong, and my honest opinion is that I made the call a year too early – the idea is right, but the product just isn’t available yet. I think the 2020 series will be the ideal year for introducing the electric power class, especially with the likes of KTM and Husqvarna already announcing their E class mini bikes for later in the Summer.”

The registration process is now live at www.arenacrossuk.comunder RIDERS.

The Arenacross Tour takes place over three weekends in 2019; 18th/19th January, The SSE Arena, Belfast, 1st/2nd February, The Resorts World Arena, Birmingham, 15th/16th February, The FlyDSA Arena, Sheffield.
