Round 2 of the South West Quad Enduro Championship at Elmore Farm, near Chard in Somerset was in some doubt with the ever unpredictable weather but the quad gods where smiling and gave the riders some spring sunshine and dry conditions to race in.
Report by Martino #371
The day started with the youth riders taking to the well thought out track and some very impressive riding was there to be seen by everyone. The 125cc / 250cc classes were the first off the line and some close, but ever friendly racing was there to admired by spectators and families alike.
The 125cc class finished with top honours going to in 1st place Charlie Wheatley, 2nd Kai Evens, 3rd Morgan Junge
250cc: 1st Daniel Barrow, 2nd William Tewson, 3rd Tom Bainbridge…. well done to everyone !!!!
The Adults classes were next to grace the the drying track with the Expert class off first with a very impressive ride from …. 1st Samuel Jeffery, 2nd Zak Orchard, 3rd Chris Keitch
The mighty 4×4 Pro class took to the track after the Expert class and the very fast Simon David was off like a scalded cat !!!! In hot pursuit but a clash with a tree put pay to his win and he had to settle for 5th. The win was taken by the ever likable Graham Illing , 2nd John Keys, 3rd Colin Burnett
Next up were the over 40s class and again the holeshot king was Martin Evison who went on to take the win, with Nathan Ponsillo 2nd and Michael Yelland 3rd.
The 4×4 Lights Class were next with a first time racer Harry Martin on the line, but a broken ball joint on lap 4 put pay to his day but a fantastic ride nonetheless. Well done Harry. The win was taken by Lawrence Dascombe, Adam Smart was 2nd, Mark Trudgeon came home in 3rd.
The novice class were next with the ever improving Chloe Keitch 1st, 2nd was Levi Edmond-Kellaway.
The clubman class only had Grace Keitch in it, which is a real shame as the clubman class should be better supported. Come on guys and girls !!!!!
The 2 man class had a good entry with Fred Parsons & Ami Day taking the win, with 2nd being Nicola Barrow & Joe Phillips, and 3rd Dan Whittington and Rick Indge.
I must add that Lewis Willey had a big off and dislocated his knee but after a visit from the brilliant medical team he was back on his feet but feeling a little sore I fear. Also well done to the Gravity team for putting on a fantastic event in very difficult conditions. 10 /10 everyone, I myself can’t wait till ROUND 3 bring it on ….. bye for now the roving reporter Martino #371.
