The Stars were out. Norwich New Stars Grasstrack Summer Meeting – Race Report and Results

by adminSeptember 9, 2017

The kids at Norwich New Stars tried to shake off the end of summer holidays blues with a cracking little meeting at the Norwich New Stars venue at Frettenham. Whilst many were in the West cursing the wet weather, racers, parents and supporters at Norwich New Stars basked in sunshine, actually providing a dusty circuit for riders to contend with.

Channel Islander Daniel Clark made a rare trip to mainland and put on a stunning performance to win the Junior class; his first meeting win on the grass. The highly rated Sand racer had several battles with New Stars regular Kenzie Cossey, and Aiden Arthur, fresh from his hard-fought win at Waterlooville the week before, was never far from the action either.

Jake Mulford once again won the Inters class. The youngster has been the stand-out talent in the older kid’s class this year, and this recorded his 8th meeting win of the season.

Another youngster in sensational form this year recorded his 8th win of the year also. Sussex-based Auto Cadet George Colvin won a well-supported Auto Cadet class, leading home Dylan Amies and Rico Joyce.

The Cadets class was won by Alfie Attoe, who himself has been a stand-out performer in his class this season. Attoe was followed home by Mitchell Bowman, who made the switch over from the Autos class for this meeting.

The GT140 class was another feature of the day, with Oakley Bowman taking the honours.

Young Inters rider Chris Mackie was awarded with Rider of the Day for his exploits throughout the afternoon.

Perhaps the most ferociously contested event of the day was the much-anticipated ‘Father’s Race’. This year the races were split into two groups. Remaining relatively anonymous in winning Group A was ‘Simon’ and the Group B winner was ‘Mark Lane’.

But it was, of course, all about this tremendous crop of kids that we have coming through the ranks at present, andall reports suggest they put on a great display.

Norwich New Stars have their own facebook photo page which is well worth a visit. Photos are provided by Steve Murrell of SDM Photos, who incidentally provided sponsorship for the Derek Hewitt Shield Father’s Race, won by Mark Lane.
