Sandblast time. Hydrogarden Weston Beach Race – Preview and Event info
All manner of Off Road miscreants are heading to the North Somerset sands & dunes of Weston Super Mare this weekend as the 35th staging of the Hydrogarden Weston Beach Race takes place.
For over three decades the HydroGarden Weston Beach Race has been the maddest, baddest and biggest event on the UK off-road calendar, and it continues to grow each year.
Of course the action packed racing, which pitches professional and amateur riders against each other on what is easily the toughest sand track anywhere in the world, is the main spectacle but it’s far from the only attraction.
On top of a mighty heavy dose of sand race action, there is loads to do with a huge array of Exhibitors, Trade stalls and displays going on.
The action fires into life on the Saturday with the 125/250 youth race at 9.30 before the Little 65cc Rippers take to the track. The superb Dougie Lampkin Trials Display takes place at Intervals on both day’s too. At 1.30pm on the Saturday the four and three wheelers take to the track, with the countries fastest Quad and Sidecar racers looking to finish what is an arduous event. Taking part as a two man team in the Quad race are the multi talented duo of Guy Martin and Former World Enduro Champion and MBE David Knight.
There will be no lay in’s on Sunday for the Big & Small Wheel 85cc racers as they are first on the track at 10.30 before the rundown to the big Solo 3 hour event commences starting with an Autograph session with the top racers.
Local lad Todd Kellett is the reigning champion and will be looking to repeat this feat but there is no end of talented racer’s looking to take his coveted crown.
The Weston Beach Race is a huge part of the British Off Road calendar and with it being a mixed spectacle of brilliance, endurance, strength, crashing, pile up’s and downright tiredness… with the rider’s having to take on the massive man made dunes as well as compete with hundreds of other sand worn riders, you can be assured that alongside the other entertainment on show you will have plenty to enjoy.
