Hare on the Hillside – Enduroland Hare and Hound Championships Round 2 – Race Report and Results

It was a tough Enduroland Hare and Hounds round 2 on the Hillside circuit at Ivinghoe Aston, in Buckinghamshire with some riders finding the 3 hour stretch a little tough going.

An earlier start of just after 9am saw the humble racers blast off with Kirk Giles taking the beer holeshot in the Elite/Clubman Plus.  Warren Landman took the Clubman holeshot with Antony Heatley taking the Vets/Masters.
Finley Thompson made his Dad smile with his holeshot win for the Youth and Garth Meyer lifted the Sportsman beer.

A devastated Rob Higgs ended his blistering Hillside masterclass with a DNF after an incomplete lap ruled him out of the results and Dan Johnson stepped up to take the Elite win and a 2nd place overall.

A fabulous ride from Aston Day in the Clubman Plus gave him the class and overall win with Kirk Giles in 2nd and Aaron Bloomfield in 3rd .

Enduroland regular Gary Curtis got his first Clubman win stepping up from his RaceXC Sportsman finishes.  A great result for Gary and well deserved.  Local lad James Dover took 2nd and Simon Wright in 3rd .

Mark Lewis headed the vets class and Trevor Evans was 2nd followed by Neil Richardson. The Masters was close with Darren Carter just 20 seconds in front of Mick Belcher and Antony Heatley.

Chris Bailey fought from 19th overall up to 3rd overall for the youth win and a race to remember for the Northamptonshire schoolboy. Finley Thompson was 2nd with a very credible 21 laps and 15th overall. The Ladies corner was fought and won by Alice Bowen.

Last but not least the young guns on the 85cc big wheels, who did their parents proud with Brighton based Kyle Saunders showing his big brother (Jordon Saunders#faf)how to complete 21 laps without being sick to win the class.  Young Jadyn Giles completed 19 laps for 2nd place.

A tough old day on the hillside with the dust just about under control and the fresh grass helping.  Entries for this event are dwindling and although the club hate to be negative this 3 hour event is in serious jeopardy for next season.

Round 3 of the series takes place at Potters Bar, Hertfordshire on Sunday 22nd October 2017 so give the club support and get yourself involved.
