Comeback Cooper – Pickering Grasstrack meeting 3 – Race Report and Results
Pickering and District Motor Club hosted their third Grasstrack meeting of the 2018 season on Sunday, attracting another array of talent, most notably of all, Paul Cooper- returning for the first time from injuries sustained earlier in the season.

And Cooper was in excellent form, winning all of the 500cc solo races including the final. Daniel Winterton, no doubt still recovering from playing an important role in last week’s British Masters at his home club, followed him home in each of his rides to claim second, sustaining his top spot in the National Gradings.
Another former British Champion was able to win the 250cc final, after being headed several times throughout the afternoon. David Knowles, another Yorkshireman, only managed to win one out of the three heats before winning the final. It was former British Masters sidecar champion Rob Bradley who was doing most of the winning in the heats, claiming two out of three of the races. But Bradley didn’t feature in the final results after falling in the first running and being deemed the cause of the stoppage.
Once again, the club attracted a strong Motocross interest, with the event being split into two competitions once again. G. Charlton and A. Grice won their respective pools of competition. The children also had some excellent races, and O. Booth was a cut above the others, winning all four heats.
Finally, Pickering’s hugely popular ‘run-what-you-brung’ style Inappropriate class was once again won by Will Bratley.
Pickering’s club members only have a few weeks to take breath before they race again on Sunday 2nd September; their fourth meeting of the year. All information and details of this event, plus their previous meetings can be found by searching for their club Facebook page: Pickering and District Motor Club.
