Mel races to Maxxis podium – Revo Husqvarna update

REVO Husqvarna UK’s Mel Pocock narrowly missed out on third place in the Maxxis ACU British MX2 Championship but came away from the final round at Foxhill on Sunday with the consolation of a podium finish on the day. Mel headed to the spectacular Swindon track 14 points off third and despite struggling on a wet track in the morning qualification session he got a great drive out of the gate on his FC 250 in race one and ended the first lap in fourth. Picking up the pace, he moved into third on lap two and inherited second when Martin Barr crashed out, causing a red flag. Mel, who four days before celebrated the birth of his first child, headed to the new Wiltshire track with a healthy 31-point championship lead. Carved out of land on the banks of the River Ribble, the man-made sand circuit is always a tough test of both man and machine but Mel headed into the event feeling confident and hoping to improve on his fifth place in the MX2 championship on his FC 250. After qualifying in ninth Mel fired out of the gate in the opening 25-minute plus two lap [...]

Maxxis season-best finish for Mel – Revo Husqvarna Update

Round six of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship supported by Pro Clean at Blaxhall in Suffolk on Sunday was next on REVO Husqvarna UK’s hectic race calendar.

Report by Sean Lawless – Images by Nuno Laranjeira

The sandy circuit had been prepped to perfection but podium contender Mel Pocock – along with a number of the big names in MX2 – struggled to put in a good qualification time on a busy track and he had to be content with going to the gate for race one in 11th. He didn’t get the greatest of starts in the opener on his FC 250 but it was a vintage display from Mel as he hunted down the riders in front of him, eventually picking his way through to [...]
