Beach Race season approaches. Entries open for Skegness and Weymouth!

With many Motocross championships now coming to a close, its now that time of year when we turn our attentions to the various Beach races which take place around the UK.

Two of the biggest are the AMCA promoted Weymouth and Skegness Beach races, and with spectating free at both, big crowds flock to watch the action, and they are great occasions to be part of.

Entries are now open for them both, so here is the full event info.

WEYMOUTH BEACH RACE – MINIMUM AGE IS 16 YEARS OLD

The Weymouth Beach race is on Sunday 28th October and is organised and run by the Purbeck Motocross Club, who have in average 10 members who all contribute massively to the run the event. The club also have many people who volunteer to help from around the local area, and local businesses also get behind and back the event.  The Weymouth and Portland Borough Council have been great in supporting this event right from the first one back in 1984.

Entry Fee and Race info

There are three classes based on rider ability running at this event, Juniors, Seniors & Experts. These are Unlimited classes running MX1 and MX2 machines.

MX1: 250cc 2 Stroke / 450cc 4 Stroke / 280cc 4 Stroke / 350cc 4 Stroke
MX2: 125cc 2 Stroke / 250cc 4 Stroke / 144cc 2 Stroke

AMCA Members £35 / Non-Members £60 – ALL IN – 16 YEARS AND OVER ONLY – £5 OF EVERY ENTRY GOES TO LOCAL CHARITIES.

08:30am – Signing on / Transponder Collection

(This will take place in the ‘Ocean Room’ – Pavillion Main Building)

NO ENGINES RUNNING BEFORE 12 NOON

12:00 – Practice

  • Juniors
  • Seniors
  • Experts

13:00 – Racing (2 Races per class)

  • Juniors (15 Mins + 1Lap)
  • Seniors (20 Mins + 1Lap)
  • Experts (25 Mins + 1Lap)

Trophies are down to 10th place in all classes.

SKEGNESS BEACH RACE

The Skegness beach race has grown into one of the largest off-road events in the UK since it’s inception in 2010. The event regularly attracts crowds well in excess of 20,000 people over a single weekend. The event is scheduled for 10th and 11th November with races for solo’s, quads and sidecars.

The winner of the Adult Solo will pick up £1,000, which has previously been taken home by the likes of Milko Potisek, Nez Parker, Nathan Watson, Dan Thornhill and James Hutchinson.

 

Spectating is free, but the public car parks are Council managed and seasonal charges will apply. Specialist trade stands as well as beachside food concessions will be open!

Entry free include hard standing car parks and free camping for one vehicle, all withing seconds of the beach and the fantatsic Skeggy night life, which will ensure a weekend to remember. T

Please note the minimum age for thus event is 13 years old and the minimum bike capacity is 125/250f.

Saturday racing is for Clubman, Sidecar and Quads.

10.30AM – Clubman inc. Vets O40 – 1hr 30min.
12.30PM – Quads & Sidecars (16years +) – 2 hours.

SUNDAY
11:30AM – Adult Solo inc. Vets O40 – 3 hours.
